GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – Meijer will offer students an additional incentive to get their COVID-19 vaccine with a $ 10 coupon on any purchase when they complete the vaccination process.
The retailer announced the incentive on Monday, as a growing number of colleges and universities establish COVID-19 vaccination mandates for students, faculty and staff.

“Getting back to campus is a huge and exciting step towards normalcy after the pandemic that has so disrupted our lives,” said Meijer President and CEO Rick Keyes. “But to continue on this path, we encourage everyone who is in a position to receive the vaccine to take this important step. Our pharmacy teams are dedicated to keeping our communities safe, but there is still work to be done. We hope this incentive will make a difference.
The $ 10 incentive program goes into effect Monday and will run until September 30.
To take advantage of the offer, students will have to have their first dose of COVID-19 administered before September 30 at a Meijer pharmacy.
Upon completion of the vaccine series, students will receive a coupon at the pharmacy, redeemable in store for 28 days.
Meijer says his pharmacies have seen an increase in COVID-19 vaccinations recently, with an increase of almost 20% in vaccines given in the past three weeks.
“We are strongly encouraged by the continued engagement of members of the communities we serve to get vaccinated to protect themselves and those around them,” said Jackie Morse, vice president of Pharmacy at Meijer.
In late April, Meijer Pharmacies launched a walk-in vaccination program in all locations in the Midwest after administering one million doses of the vaccine at its in-store clinics.
On Monday, the retailer administered more than 1.7 million doses.
All eligible people – including those aged 12 to 17 with a parent or guardian – can get vaccinated at their local Meijer pharmacy.
Those interested can visit any Meijer pharmacy or register for an appointment by sending a COVID SMS to 75049.
